The ESL Premiership for League of Legends returns for 2018!
We're back for 2018 with some big changes for the UK and Ireland's Premier competition

The League of Legends Premiership is back for 2018! Last season we saw an epic victory at ESL Studio One in Leicester as ExceL esports took down Team Singularity in a final that went down to the wire.

Looking forward to 2018 we’ve got some big plans, starting off with the format.

We’re moving to a groups system from our old round robin with two groups of four teams. Each team will play 6 games against teams in their group and also 1 game against each team in the other group, for a total of 10 games for the season per team.

The top team from each group will automatically qualify for the Finals. To find the other two teams, 2nd place from each group will play 3rd in the other across a best-of-3 format for our 4 team live finals on the 7th and 8th April.

Matches will be played on two nights of the week, one set on Tuesdays and another on Sundays feeding into a new look broadcast for 2018.

Initially, Tuesday’s four matches will be cast by the community to give up-and-coming casters a chance to show off their talents on the big stage. We will create highlight reels of key moments in the games to feature on the main broadcast on Sundays, along with two featured games per week.

The Qualifiers will be running a single qualifier as a ‘Swiss’ into double elimination format on Monday 29th January, Tuesday 30th January with run over into Wednesday 31st January as required. Depending on sign ups, the top 8-16 teams from the Swiss will qualify for day 2 and top teams from day 2 join us in the Premiership, starting on February 6th!

That’s not all, for the first time ever the Premiership will be running a second tier of competitive play with more info available once the main season starts!

Sign up for the Qualifiers for Monday 29th January and we'll see you live on the ESL_LoL twitch channel on Sunday 11th February from 6pm!
